Perhaps the most important thing we bring to another person is the silence in us, not the sort of silence that is filled with unspoken criticism or hard withdrawal. The sort of silence that is a place of refuge, of rest, of acceptance of someone as they are. We are all hungry for this other silence. It is hard to find. In its presence we can remember something beyond the moment, a strength on which to build a life. Silence is a place of great power and healing.

- Rachel Naomi Remen

All the knowledge I possess everyone else can acquire, but my heart is all my own.

- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Community is that place where the person you least want to live with always lives. And when that person moves away, someone else arises to take his or her place.

- Parker J. Palmer

Character is both developed and revealed by tests, all of life is a test                    - Rick Warren

The more you become God's friend, the more you will care about the things he cares about         - Rick Warren

God's ultimate goal for your life on earth is not comfort, but

Let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. They you will be able to know the will of God -  what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect      - Rom 2:2 (TEV)

Our deepest calling is to grow into our own authentic self-hood, whether or not it conforms to some image of who we ought to be. As we do so, we will not only find the joy that every human being seeks -- we will also find our path of authentic service in the world.

- Parker J. Palmer

Loving-kindness and compassion are the basis for wise, powerful, sometimes gentle, and sometimes fierce actions that can really make a difference -- in our own lives and those of others.

- Sharon Salzberg

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.

- Anais Nin

I can forgive, but I cannot forget, is only another way of saying, I will not forgive. Forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note -- torn in two, and burned up, so that it never can be shown against one.

- Henry Ward Beecher
